The law requires that all dogs over the age of 5 months be licensed Wis. Stat. § 174.05(1).

A dog owner must pay the required licensing fee and present evidence of immunization against rabies.

Upon receipt and verification of these items, the treasurer or other collecting official must complete and issue a dog license and tag to the owner, keeping a duplicate copy on file.

The owner must keep the dog tag attached to the dog’s collar and on the dog at all times.

A dog is considered untagged if it is outdoors in an unconfined area and does not have a valid license tag. Wis. Stat. § 174.042(2).

Proof of vaccination should include date of vaccination, date of expiration, rabies vaccine manufacturer, and rabies serial number.

Please also be sure to include the owner’s name and address of the location of dog in the Town of Nasewaupee.

PENALTIES

A minimum late fee of $5.00 shall be assessed the owner of each dog 5 months of age or over who fails to obtain a dog license by April 1st each year, or within 30 days of acquiring ownership on or before the dog reached licensable age.

Wis. Stat. § 174.05(15) Any person who violates this chapter shall be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned up to 60 days or both.
